La bellezza

Non è quello che si pensa comunemente.
La bellezza non è perfezione dei lineamenti, e nemmeno dei movimenti, non è la lunghezza delle dita o delle gambe, non è un naso piccolo e ben disegnato.

La bellezza è il ragazzo che aiuta la donna anziana a portare la spesa a casa senza che nessuno gliel’abbia chiesto, e poi vedere il sorriso della donna, sorpresa e ammirata non solo per il gesto, ma perchè ormai non lo fa più nessuno.

E’ uscire dalla porta con un inchino mentre lei vorrebbe offrirgli qualcosa per ricambiare la cortesia, ma lui risponde: magari un’altra volta, e così dicendo le fa una promessa implicita che se dovesse ricapitare, la aiuterebbe ancora.

La bellezza è il contadino che torna a casa la sera stremato di fatica e con la schiena a pezzi che trova la moglie che gli fa trovare l’impacco di acqua calda, alloro, arnica e coriandolo per alleviarne la fatica. E poi cenano assieme, in silenzio, perchè è nel silenzio che si dicono le cose migliori.

La bellezza la trovi nel sorriso di un anziano che, mentre stai litigando con la tua ragazza, ti guarda e poi fa segno al cielo, e ti sta dicendo con gli occhi di fare altrettanto e tu capisci in un momento che non serve prendersela con lei per qualche stupida ragione, che è importante sapere godere delle piccole cose come una giornata di sole dentro un inverno freddo.
E allora ti fermi per un attimo da quella improbabile litigata, e poi viene da sorridere anche a te e finisce tutto lì, e ti senti sciocco per aver iniziato quella discussione. E la abbracci.
